The Presence of the Heavenly Court

Our Savior has brought Heaven to earth by giving us Himself in the Most Blessed Sacrament, for He is the same God who is in Heaven, surrounded by His angels; and in His presence in our chapel we can associate ourselves with all the heavenly court who form an invisible guard around Him.  You would deprive yourself of the sweetest joys of your life if you failed to come and pour out your love and petitions before His real presence.  He allows Himself to be the true refuge of our souls, where we can find comfort, guidance, strength, peace, sanctity, and happiness.  Even though the burdens of our lives seem almost unbearable at times, we all have a Friend who will never fail us - God in the Holy Eucharist.  His Sacred Heart calls to each of us, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  (Matt. 11:28)

In our world more than 360,000 Masses are offered every twenty-four hours, or four elevations of the Eucharist each second.  Praise Be Jesus!

Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle or in a monstrance is second in importance only to attendance at Mass.  Here at IHM we have a goal to maintain Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration 18 hours a day (6AM - Midnight), five days a week (M-F), where the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the monstrance in our adoration chapel.  This gives us the opportunity to develop a deeper love and closer relationship with Jesus, and helps us acquire the strength, healing and peace to make it through our pilgrimage of life and to achieve our ultimate goal - Heaven and the Beatific Vision.

“Our world today is emerged in corrosive doubt.  Yet much doubt on the seemly lesser mysteries of our faith reveals a lack of faith in the central mysteries.  “Do you really mean to tell me that the consecrated bread is Jesus Christ?”  It flows from the question: “Do you really mean to tell me that this man, Jesus Christ, is God?”  “Yes,” witnesses the Church: “God has become man in Jesus Christ.”

And if we read chapter 6 of John’s Gospel, with the mind of the Church, it is perfectly clear that He, the Son of God, extends His incarnation in the world by transforming bread and wine into Himself for us.  The statement stands boldly and nakedly at the heart of Catholic worship: “This is My Body … This is My Blood.”  At that moment, heaven and earth become one in this bread and wine, which are God becoming food for His world.

Mystics throughout history have experienced tremendous graces in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.  And so have ordinary people, the eyes of whose hearts are opened by faith.”

“There is no monitor or video screen at Eucharistic Adoration, no figures or colors shifting across the screen.  We simply sit and look at a round piece of bread encircled by light.  That bread is the Body of Christ, the consecrated Host, before which countless Catholics gaze in rapt adoration throughout the world.

Why?  There is no action here: here the action is being, the very being of God.  Martha goes busily about, tending to all the needs of the world.  Here, before Jesus in sacramental form, Mary finds her place, seated at the feet of the Beloved.

“Jesus Christ: body, blood, soul and divinity.”  If anyone ever seems unsure about just what happens to the bread during Mass, I repeat this phrase taught Catholics from time immemorial, indicating precisely what-or rather, Who-is present in what appears to be bread, but is bread no longer.”
