 What If …

What would have happened if Noah said, ‘Don’t worry, it’s just a passing shower’?  (Gen 6:17)

Or if Joshua didn’t believe God and said to the people of Israel, ‘Let’s go - we all know you can’t knock a wall down by shouting’? (Jos 6:1-5)

When Jesus asked his Apostles “Are you going to leave me too?”; what would have happened if Peter said ‘Yes, I’m leaving I’d rather be fishing’ (Jn 6:66-71)

We all know what happened in those stories, and we all know in each one God’s Word wasn’t only listened to, but believed.  So now I ask; Why are there so many of us who simply don’t believe Jesus when he says “This is my body”, “This is my blood” (Mark 14:22-23) and “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you do not have life within you.  Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day?” (John 6:53-54)

Do we not believe him when he references “eternal life”?  Do we not know that God cannot make a false statement?

We are all somewhere on our spiritual journey; some of us may be just beginning, others may be getting towards the end.  Regardless, NOW is the time to do something to improve your relationship with Jesus so that when you meet him face-to-face he will want to present you to the Father as his beloved and as an adopted son/daughter of God claiming their inheritance.

I hope you realize when you receive the Eucharist in Communion, you are closer to Jesus than you would have been sitting at the table during the last supper?

That same Jesus is waiting for you at this very moment in the Adoration Chapel.  Go to him; sit quietly in his presence and experience the change in your heart.

Worship of the Eucharist Outside of Mass

Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle or in a monstrance is second in importance only to attendance at Mass.  Here at IHM we have a goal to maintain Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration 18 hours a day (6AM - Midnight), five days a week (M-F), where the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the monstrance in our adoration chapel.  This gives us the opportunity to develop a deeper love and closer relationship with Jesus, and helps us acquire the strength, healing and peace to make it through our pilgrimage of life and to achieve our ultimate goal - Heaven and the Beatific Vision.

Adoration Helps You To Prepare

 Will You Be Prepared?

The Lord asks us today as He asked the apostles over 2000 years ago, “Could you not watch one hour with me!”  This is what adoration is, to watch one hour with the Lord.  Watchful adoration is to be ever vigilant and to be ever prepared as strengthened in prayer for our hour of trial when our enemies and persecutors will descend upon us like vultures and strike at our deepest weaknesses and most intimate fears.  The essence of adoration is to prepare ourselves for that great hour of trial, to learn to rely on God alone, knowing as Jesus did that only God would not abandon Him to His enemies, although the Father allowed Him to be persecuted for God’s sake and the salvation of the human race.

Now might be the right time to take your relationship with Jesus to the next level.  You will find that an hour of weekly Adoration gets easier and more rewarding with each passing week.  Don’t underestimate the heavenly rewards, God’s gifts and graces are endless, and you begin to enjoy them simply by spending time in His Presence.  Now Is The Right Time!

Jesus, Let’s Get Together!

If one of your goals for 2023 is to improve your relationship with Jesus, it’s important to realize any serious attempt requires time and patience.  It’s impossible to experience significant progress in prayer without a daily commitment to meet with God.  It doesn’t have to be a lot of time - but daily dedicated ‘time’ is a requirement.  Set aside a small amount (as little as 10 minutes) every day to simply sit in silence and mentally ask Jesus to help you improve your relationship with him.  He not only will help because he answers every prayer, and he sees the effort you’re willing to put into improving the relationship.  God rewards effort.

As you become more familiar with this practice you naturally will add more time to each prayer session because you realize that Jesus is speaking directly to your heart and you want to get the most you can from the encounter.  It is he who is the true answer of life that we all seek.  We begin to fully appreciate that he is God with us, and we should be seeking him without tiring, welcoming him without reserve, and loving him without interruption: today, tomorrow, forever.

As we continue to build our relationship and to improve from the inside out, we realize the next step in satisfying our desire is to experience his True Presence.  The only way to do that is at Mass or in Eucharistic Adoration.  If you’re serious to get closer then it’s time to commit to an hour of chapel time every week.
