Why would God go to such an extent to rescue us that He sacrifices His own Son?  Because not only is God loving, but He himself in the definition of Love (John 3:16, 1 John 4:8)

We have to recognize that His love is not motivated by what He sees in us, but by what is inside of Him.  God delights in transforming us by His grace and rescuing us by His love.  But in order to do that He needs our full cooperation.  We have to be receptive to His Love.  He never forces Himself on us, but will work marvelous deeds if we but open our heart to Him.

It all begins with TRUST, and a good place to start is weekly Adoration.

Saint Pope John II in his encyclical letter, Ecclesia de Eucharist, draws our attention to the fact that, “In the Eucharist we have Jesus, we have his redemptive sacrifice, we have his resurrection, we have the gift of the Holy Spirit, we have adoration, obedience and love of the Father.” All of this Jesus gives us if we only meet him in the Adoration Chapel, and sit quietly in his Presence surrendering to his action within our heart and soul.

'Time' - We All Have Less Than Yesterday

Make Your Time Count

Many of us today tend to give emphasis to feeling good and being accepted in society.  Winning political victories, attaining financial success, unhindered sensuality, and being famous seem to be the most important things for the many, even within the Church.  Even those who are serious about eternity often give up because of their sins and sufferings.  We are no longer “working out our salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil. 2:12) because we have ignored the dire warning of our Lord Jesus Christ: “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?” (Mk. 8;36). 

We all know the time we have from the present until the time we die, is all the time we have left to invest in our heavenly retirement program.  Too many people have a thought in the back of their mind that if they don’t think about death it will go away.  Not True!  Whether we think of death or not, it will still come our way.  Every day, every choice we make brings us closer to our judgement.  Start now making a difference in your relationship with God that will affect your eternal judgement.  So, get off the couch and get on your knees - make a positive change while you still can.  Try a visit to the Adoration Chapel.

The magic of Adoration in part is that the more often you participate, the longer you want to stay, and the deeper you enter into quiet and listening.  Soon you learn to trust his voice and are able to discern his advise.

The Importance of Adoration

Like so many pilgrims before us, we kneel in wonder and adoration in front of the ineffable mystery which is accomplished in Eucharistic Adoration.  In the Son of God who is given to us, we find rest for our souls and the true bread that never fails — the Eucharistic Bread foreshadowed even in the name of the town of His birth: Beth-lehem, the house of bread.  God lies hidden in the Child; divinity lies hidden in the Bread of Life.

Mary’s Request For The Rosary

Tuesday, October 7 is the Memorial to Our Lady of the Rosary.  The Rosary is one of the most popular prayer forms in the Catholic world.  

The Rosary evolved over centuries, with roots in ancient practices.  Early practitioners used beads or knots to count prayers and this method existed long before the modern Rosary was developed.  The prayers being said and counted were 150 Psalms.  Often called a ‘poor man’s psalter’: the laity who could not read the 150 psalms, adopted this counting method to pray 150 “Our Fathers” instead.  This practice became widespread across Europe.

The rise of the Hail Mary from the 11th century onward replaced the recitation of the “Our Father” with reciting 150 Hail Marys instead.  The prayer grew in stages, incorporating scriptural passages from the Annunciation and Visitation (mysteries) before its final form was approved at the Council of Trent in the 16th century.

The Rosary is one of the most popular prayer forms of those visiting the Adoration Chapel and it’s a wonderful place to start if you are new to Adoration.  To help appreciate the importance of the rosary it’s noted that in five of the sixteen Marian Apparitions approved by the church as ‘worthy of belief’, our Lady specifically asks for daily recitation of the Rosary.  Won’t you do your best to fulfill her request?

By Faith Be In His Presence

The Magic of Faith

Faith is one of the great gifts God has given us.  We can visit the Adoration Chapel and through Faith know we are truly in His Presence and because Jesus is not limited by space and time; sit at the table during the Last Supper, or kneel at the manger along with the Wise Men, or stand next to the weeping Blessed Mother on Calvary.  How is this possible?  Because God has no limits, and for God everything is present.  Believe in his presence and contemplate being with him at any event during his human life.

An Abundance Of Grace

To pray before the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar in our Adoration Chapel is to cast a glance of faith upon Jesus Christ, true God and true man, truly present in the Bread of the Eucharist. 

To spend time before the Eucharist in Adoration is to manifest God’s mercy and tenderness for humanity and calls on each of us to intercede for the needs of men.  All who pray to Jesus exposed in the monstrance receive an abundance of grace to live in the world as beloved children; and through him, in the Spirit, each of us returns to the Father, the God of tenderness and mercy, to bless and glorify him.  So regardless of your position or state in life, through prayer, you can draw from the unfathomable riches of the Heart of Christ, given to us in the Eucharist, for the good of all.

Jesus Doesn't Give Up!

 Jesus — The Model Of Perseverance

It’s important on our Spiritual Journey we keep our eyes and ears fixed on Jesus, who is a model of perseverance for us.  During his public life Jesus encounters disbelief and rejection from the very people he was trying to help.  In the fifth chapter of John’s Gospel his conversation with people in the crowd becomes personal when he says, “But you do not want to come to me to have life.”  Thankfully, for our sake, Jesus does not collapse in frustration or give up in disappointment  Instead, he remains steadfastly committed to accomplishing his Father’s works and he perseveres, eventually enduring suffering and death to gain for us the promise of an abundant life.  Lord Jesus, help us to persevere on our Spiritual Journey.   (Paraphrase Give Us This Day, April 03, 2025)

A Great Need

Your Message From God

Secrets

As you read this article you should know there is a secret message embedded in what you are looking at.  You’ll have access to it if you believe.  Jesus communicates with us in many different ways, but we are not going to hear or understand him unless we believe and trust.  So close your eyes and ask him what is his message to you.  If one doesn’t come, maybe it’s because either your belief or trust is lacking.  You can fix that; simply visit the Adoration Chapel and ask him for his help.  He is waiting for you, and he always loves to help.  Nothing does the soul more good than committing to one hour of Eucharistic Adoration every week.

Adoration By The Numbers:

Our parish has committed to Adoring Our Lord in the chapel 18 hours a day (6AM - Midnight), 5 days a week (M-F).  Currently we have 126 Committed Adorers pledged to cover at least one hour every week.  Our goal has always been to have a minimum of two people committed for every hour so everyone has a partner.   We’re not doing well reaching that goal because fifty-six (56) of the ninety (90) hours committed have only one person adoring.  Currently we have 6 hours during the week without a scheduled adorer.  We try to fill those hours by requesting a substitute each week.  There are also 4 hours where the adorer has asked for a partner to share the hour with.

In addition to those committed to an hour every week there are sixty-four (64) people who have volunteered to be a substitute willing to fill-in for a committed Adorer when a need arises.  Of those 64, 37 have not fulfilled a request in the past 6 months. 

Committed Adorers sign in for their hour using a kiosk each time they enter the chapel.  This works great for ‘committed’, but we were missing those people who just visited occasionally.

In an effort to solve that we added a paper based “Visitor’s Log” which helped get a better handle of how many people actually use the chapel.  We are very blessed that our chapel get’s a lot of traffic, but there’s still too many who won’t take a moment to sign the log.  If you’re a visitor to the chapel please take that moment to let us know you were there.

What Held The Early Followers Of Jesus Together?

The Glue That Held The Early Church Together

Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead.  Yet, “this authentic, real body possesses the new properties of a glorious body: … able to be present how and when he wills” (CCC, 645).  And that is how we can be certain that the Resurrection is a fact that has happened: The Risen body of Jesus Christ has become present in us, the Body of Christ.  Nothing else could possibly explain what kept those desperate people - the first disciples - together in the days and years that followed Christ’s death.  It was not some idea of ideal that unified them; it was the event of Christ’s presence in their midst.  Even when threatened by perils and persecution, the early Church stayed together because of the undeniable fact that the Risen Jesus had made himself present bodily to his followers in all their weakness, confusion and fear.  He drew forth from them Holy Communion.  Only the bodily resurrection can effect such a miracle of unity, courage and fidelity.  (Jesus, Present Before Me - p106)

Jesus, gave totally of himself to the Father for our salvation.  We must do the same if we want to merit heaven for all eternity.  Pray that you have the courage to follow his example.  If you need help to do so … He is waiting for you in the Adoration Chapel and all you have to do is ask him for help.

To be a Christian is to let our dependence on Christ become the core of our being.

You Have The Power To Forgive

You To Have The Power To Forgive

As Jesus was on the cross, He looked at the men who had crucified Him with love.  He cried out to His heavenly Father and begged not for revenge, or even justice, but mercy.  We need to take a few moments to contemplate the words Jesus used because something of His power to forgive is imparted to us.  “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”  It’s very difficult to forgive by ourselves, but as we contemplate our Lord on the Cross, we can ask for the grace to forgive so that we are able to say, “Father, forgive them for what they have done.”(Fr. Joseph Mary Wolfe, MFVA)

As we work this week to find a way to grow closer to Jesus you’re encouraged to spend time in the Adoration Chapel. Jesus is present body, blood, soul and divinity and waiting for you.  This is the same Jesus who celebrated Passover Thursday night, the same Jesus who hung on the cross Friday, and the same Jesus who rose from the dead Sunday.  Think about it … get your heart around it and know ~ God is here.

Hard to Understand

“The Catholic religion has a history of taking a very deep and profound spirituality, one that requires an entire lifetime to grow into, and dilute it down to a level a seven-year-old can understand.  And then we never grow it back up.  Some call this theological reductionism.  Often when it comes to religion, we still talk to fully grown, well educated adults like they’re eight years old.  We think we need to simplify deep and profound spiritual truths and then wonder why no one listens.” (Constance T. Jesus didn’t talk down to people.  He talked to them at the level they were at; and that’s the main reason he was able to gather such a strong following.  What does this mean to you and me?  It means that if we take the time to go to the Adoration Chapel to talk and listen to our Lord, he will answer our prayers in a way each of us will understand.

IHM is always in need of additional ‘committed’ Eucharistic Adorers.  As you pray, ask the Holy Spirit if you should get involved with the Adoration Ministry; and don’t forget to pray for the intentions of other adorers that have been logged into the ‘Intention Book’ located on the counter in back of the chapel.
