The message of Divine Mercy, relayed through St. Faustina, is that God is merciful.  He is love itself poured out for us, and He wants no one to escape that merciful love.

God wants us to turn to Him with trust and repentance while it is still time of mercy, before He comes as the just judge.  This turning is the only source of peace for mankind.  Turning to and imploring God’s mercy is the answer to the troubled world, and is the answer to any troubled things affecting your life.  There is no escaping that answer.

Why not join the many who have found peace by becoming a regular Eucharistic Adorer.  Do it now … don’t wait because you don’t know if you have tomorrow.

 Top Three Benefits Of Eucharistic Adoration

Why should you get involved in Eucharistic Adoration?  Your soul might depend on it!

Our Lord Jesus said “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”  (Mt 28:20)

If you are not a regular Eucharistic Adorer, here are three reasons you might want to become one:  1) Adorers develop a deeper relationship with Christ: Spending time in silence and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament allows for a personal and intimate encounter with Jesus Christ, deepening one’s faith and love for him.  2) Adoration allows for Spiritual healing and growth: providing a space for repentance, reconciliation, and the reception of God’s grace, which can lead to inner healing, spiritual renewal, and protection from sin and evil.  3) Spending time in the true presence of Jesus provides courage to face fears, the ability to undertake great things for Christ, and the power to endure trials.  This highlights Adoration’s ability to provide strength in facing life’s challenges and to live a virtuous life.

Adoration By The Numbers:

Our parish has committed to Adoring Our Lord in the chapel 18 hours a day (6AM - Midnight), 5 days a week (M-F).  Currently we have 126 Committed Adorers pledged to cover at least one hour every week.  Our goal has always been to have a minimum of two people committed for every hour so everyone has a partner.   We’re not doing well reaching that goal because fifty-six (56) of the ninety (90) hours committed have only one person adoring.  Currently we have 6 hours during the week without a scheduled adorer.  We try to fill those hours by requesting a substitute each week.  There are also 4 hours where the adorer has asked for a partner to share the hour with.

In addition to those committed to an hour every week there are sixty-four (64) people who have volunteered to be a substitute willing to fill-in for a committed Adorer when a need arises.  Of those 64, 37 have not fulfilled a request in the past 6 months. 

Committed Adorers sign in for their hour using a kiosk each time they enter the chapel.  This works great for ‘committed’, but we were missing those people who just visited occasionally.

In an effort to solve that we added a paper based “Visitor’s Log” which helped get a better handle of how many people actually use the chapel.  We are very blessed that our chapel get’s a lot of traffic, but there’s still too many who won’t take a moment to sign the log.  If you’re a visitor to the chapel please take that moment to let us know you were there.

   (Of 427 - 166 registered as IHM parishioners - 241 registered from other parishes

Eucharistic Peace of Heart

“The most powerful means of obtaining peace of heart is from Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.  What are we saying?  We are saying that in order to obtain that self-mastery which is the precondition of internal peace, we need nothing less than God’s miraculous grace.

Today’s world is so filled with confusion that nothing less than supernatural grace can provide us with the peace of mind without there can be no peace of heart.  Where do we go; to whom do we turn; whom do we ask to give us that peace of mind which is so tragically wanting in the modern world?  Who alone can give us the serenity of spirit which is another name for peace of soul?  Who, but Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace.

We do not normally think of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament as food for the mind and the will but we should.  To be at peace, what we first need is to know the truth; what we next need is to do the will of God.  On both counts, Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is our principal source.”

Lent is that time of the Church year when we are encouraged to work for supernatural grace that will give us peace of mind, leading to peace of heart.

“We in the twenty-first century think we are the first to be so busy - busy with making money or being students or caring for children, parents, or grandchildren.  When we are so busy taking care of people and issues right in front of us, how do we remember to make time to enrich our personal relationship with God?  St. Francis, in his own busy life of working, teaching, and writing, was always aware of his need for regular prayer - he would not forget.  For Francis, prayer was essential sustenance.  His guide was Jesus himself, who invites us through his actions and words to engage in deep dialog with God.  How inviting it is to remember that God calls each of us by name and that our name is written on the palm of his hand.  God wants to be close to us and so sent his Son to be with us, because He loves us.  Our part is to remember to make time for God.”  (Jean Amlaw, FSPA)

“Loving and irresistible God, you draw me into your flame of love, and yet I resist.  I pray for the courage to surrender my whole self to you, as St. Francis of Assisi did, so that like Francis, I might experience the joy of life without control, a life that brings the unexpected delights of sweet surrender.  Loving God, help me to stop counting the costs and to overcome my fear of loss, so that through your communing love I may find my true self, transformed by love, ready to share that experience of pure joy through loving service to the world around me.  Amen"

Eucharistic Adoration opens the door that allows us to become more like the One we contemplate and to continually make room for the mystery of God within our lives.  If you currently are not a regular weekly Adorer I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit for advice and support to begin the practice.

How Can You Say NO To Jesus?

Is Jesus important enough to you to set aside one special hour each week to be with Him?  Just one hour once a week is all He is asking.  It’s a simple matter of putting first things first.  “In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success” (Prov 3:6)

Because we can’t see Jesus, we often take His love and Presence in the Blessed Sacrament for granted.  Many people are hesitant in making a commitment for a specific hour because they let everything else in their lives come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  An hour with Jesus could be the most important thing you do this week.

This concept of importance is reenforced in the book In Sinu Jesu where Jesus is quoted telling a Benedictine Monk “Nothing in your life is more important than the time you spend in adoration before My Eucharistic Face.  Your energy and your capacity to do other things efficiently and in due order will grow in proportion to the time you consecrate to Me alone.”

Don’t wait until you’re out of ‘time’; we will all be there at some point.  Prioritize now and heed the words of Jesus when He said “Could you not keep watch for one hour?” (Mk 14:37)

Let Advent be your starting point - commit to one hour of Adoration in the chapel each week.  If you’re already a committed adorer say a prayer to the Holy Spirit the next time you’re in the chapel that more people will take to heart Jesus’ request to spend an hour with Him.  Better yet - don’t wait until you are in the chapel .. say that prayer now!

Truly Present - No Mistake

The fathers of Vatican II point out that Christ is indeed present in a variety of ways - in the very intelligibility of the universe, in the gathered assembly at Mass, in the reading of the Scriptures, in the person of the priest - but he is “really, truly, and substantially” present, that is to say, in a qualitatively different way, in the Eucharistic elements.  Thomas Aquinas gave voice to the same conviction when he said that the power of Christ is operative in the other sacraments, but Christ himself is present in the sacrament of the altar.  

Experience his true presence by sitting silently in the chapel and letting his Being wash over you.  If you’re not a regular Adorer we, like Our Lord, invite you to visit and feel his presence.  Once you experience it, you’re encouraged to make a weekly appointment to spend an hour with him.  We all know how important compound interest is to our retirement account; but do you realize that time spent in his presence compounds the value of grace we earn in our heavenly account?

The question has been asked as to why we made the recent changes in the Chapel?  The number one reason was security of the Eucharist.  We have no idea how many people over the years have been given the combo to enter the Chapel.  Many times during a normal day a person in the Chapel finds themselves alone.  Once someone enters there’s no additional security for the Monstrance, the Tabernacle, or most important the Real Presence of Our Lord.  We had no way to verify that every time the Tabernacle was opened, the person doing that had authority; and it simply got to a point where we needed to manage risk better.

The acrylic case provides greater security while at the same time giving us the ability to expand Adoration because of the ease to Expose and Repose the Holy Eucharist by either opening or closing the curtain.  Our overall goal as a Parish is to Adore Our Lord 24/5 has not changed.  We hope to have someone praying in the Chapel every hour of every day Monday through Friday.  At this time we’re quite short of that goal in the six hours between midnight and 6AM as only 40% of those hours has someone praying.  Before Covid we were covering 24/5, and I’m sure we can get there again.

Gods' Merciful Love

Everybody needs God.  It's not a question of being worthy or not.  The issue is ... will you, come into the Chapel and sit down with the One who joins all of us?  It's that joint endeavor - that joint sharing of the human condition with its joys and sorrows, its ordinariness, its profane character, its endless waiting, its deprivations - and not just our suffering ... but the experience of Adoration prayer that gradually educates us in what this prayer type really is:  an education and union in undeserved mercy.

Become More Like Christ

As we deepen our personal relationship with Jesus by spending time with Him in Eucharistic Adoration we become more like Him, just as old friends or a long-married couple grow more and more similar.  We become more aware of the obstacles of sin in our life that stand between us and Our Lord.  We develop a stronger desire to make habits of virtue and self-sacrifice in imitation of Him.

If you are not a regular Adorer, maybe now is the time to bring your Jesus relationship to a new level?  Jesus is in the chapel waiting for YOU.

Of What Use Is Adoration?

To me that seems like a silly question.  The Church teaches the benefit of Adoration is second only to that of the Holy Mass.  But, like the Mass, if we want to get the most advantage we have to approach it with the right intention and right mindset.

When you make Adoration of God your first priority, heaven and earth open to you and Jesus lavishes you with his grace and fills your heart with his infinite Love to the point of bursting.  Adoration changes you from the inside out, and your Love relationship with God, with your neighbor, and with yourself will never be the same.

The link below is to a short article about how much the world needs Adoration.  Recently we have heard Church leaders state that Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is one of the best ways to work our way out of the current crises within the Church.  I hope you will take a moment to read and reflect.  And after, if you are not a regular Adorer, I pray you will be moved to want to join the Adoration Ministry and sign up for a permanent hour in the presence of God.

Interesting to note that the article mentions ... in Lourdes most miracles take place during the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  A little further in the article is says the same is true in Medjugorje.  Not a coincidence.
